The only thing I say is be careful with the plastic charge prongs as they're pretty small and you might loose them easily so put them in a safe location as to prevent that from happening. The charger comes with two plastic charge prongs that connect through the usb port on the controller than put the plastic charge prongs onto the controllers which than allow it to charge onto the charger slots which hold the controller pretty snugly into it, after putting the controller into the charger the light on the charger will turn red to signal it's charger and than start blinking red/green when it's almost complete until you see the green light signaling that the controller is fully charged. After checking online at the multitude of different chargers out there I finally decided on this one considering I already had another charger for my Wii from the same maker and had no problems with that one. I got the newest model it seems with the design of the charger holding just two controllers at one time, there is no off/on switch with this one either but that's not to problematic I usually just leave my wii charger plugged on most times an that one doesn't have an on/off switch either just unplug if you feel its unsafe. While you can get usb cables an charge the controller from the Ps3 like it said on my manual I just don't like doing it that way as you have to have the PS3 console on to charge the controller and why have the PS3 on if you're not playing any games or watching movies on it just to charge a controller.
It conveniently (and quickly) charges two PS3 controllers at once.The Good: 1) Power Source: It's handy to be able to plug this into the wall instead of the PS3 via a USB cable. 2) Charge Adapter: The previous model of this product was poorly designed to the extent that it was maddening to insert the controller on the base.
And, perhaps most importantly, gone is the annoying five-pin slot that made the previous model so annoying. This resulted in scratched controllers and lost tempers.
You had to gently wiggle the controller to fit a slightly crooked five-pin USB connector. It's easy to use and the bright red-green lights indicate when charging is complete.The Bad: 1) Design: It can no longer charge up to four controllers at once, but this should really only factor into your decision if you're constantly playing multi-players.Overall: To me, it's worth it because of the slim design, the wall-power source, and the convenience of being able to charge two controllers at once.
If you have an entertainment center where you prefer not to have wires spilling out the front, this is the perfect product for your PS3. You don't have to have that wire hanging off the front of the unit all the time, which kept the glass door on the front of my entertainment center from closing.
This design, however, fixed this issue and included adapters that you connect to the controller before dropping it in the charger.
The controllers easily sit in the charging base and are not hard to fit in. Very easy to put the adapter on the controller, and it stays there. Highly recommend this one. Lights are not as bright in the newer model as they were complained of in the earlier models. Functionally awesome. Very quick and easy to use.
Its too bad because I liked this design. It feels like the pressure contacts just give out after awhile. As a few other reviews have said, this charger worked very well -- at first. After 6 months the lights would not turn red and the controllers would not receive a charge from the unit. So now am back to plugging controllers into the PS3.
This is a must have for PS3 gamers. It's very well designed. This charger works very well. I love the fact that I don't have to use the usb cable any more. It's so simple to connect the controller to the charger.
